Reports To                              : Environmental Health Officer

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Have five (5) “O” Levels including English Language, Mathematics and Science
• A Diploma in Environmental Health
• Be currently registered with the Environmental Health Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe
• Class 3 or 4 Driver’s Licence
• At least two years experience

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, Implement and evaluate environmental Health activities in area of operation.
• Conduct participatory Health and Hygiene education sessions in area of operation
• Analyses vital statistics at Health centers and investigate cases of communicable diseases identified and notified within the community.
• Maintain TB registers including contact tracing of defaulters, absconders follow-ups, MDR monitoring and follow-ups and ensuring that collection and transportation of sputums to labs is done. 
• Carry out business premises, environmental and institutional inspection and recommend accordingly.
• Carry out inspections of food premises including swabbing, collection of food samples, meat hygiene updating of food Handlers register, investigation of food poisoning outbreaks and food borne infections.
• Plan for and supervise vector rodent and vermon control activities in area of operation.
• Conduct Environmental assessment and come up with innovatives plans that enable sustainable management of the Environment.
• Active surveillance of the City’s drinking water supplies through water sampling.
• Monitoring solid, liquid and gaseous waste management to minimize air, water and land pollution.
• Enforcement of Public Health Laws, other related laws and City by-laws to offenders.
• Any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
