QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Have five (5) “O” Levels including English Language, Mathematics and Science
• A Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent from a recognised University
• Be currently registered with the Environmental Health Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe
• Class 3 or 4 Driver’s Licence
• At least two years experience

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Inspection of Industrial, commercial and domestic premises to ensure compliance with the minimum heath requirements.
• Promotion of food, milk and meat hygiene including quality control and enforcement of related regulations.
• Monitoring and Surveillance on all meat and meat products within the City Council area of jurisdiction.
• Post and Antemortem inspection of all animals intended for sale in the City.
• Inspection of all Public and Private entities in the City.
• Monitoring solid, liquid and gaseous waste management to minimize air, water and land pollution.
• Active surveillance of the City’s drinking water supplies through water sampling.
• Instituting preventive and control measures on communicable diseases including combating any disease outbreaks.
• Promotion of occupational Health and safety and the minimization of biological, physical, chemical and social hazards.
• Vector control within the commonage.
• Health education to the urban community on matters pertaining to health.
• Appraisal of buildings and examinations of building plans
• Writing of reports of environmental health activities
• Reviewing, planning evaluation of annual environmental health activities for the Council.
• Enforcement of Public Health Act and other related statutory.
• Support and Supervision of other subordinates
