VACANCY: PRINCIPAL PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER [1 POST]
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the post of Principal Public Relations Officer that has arisen in the Town Clerk`s Office.
Job Title : Principal Public Relations Officer
Grade : 12
Reporting To : Town Clerk
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
(a) Bachelor`s Degree in Communications/Public Relations/Journalism/Equivalent
(b) Master’s Degree Communications/Public Relations/Journalism/Equivalent is a distinct advantage.
(c) 5 “O” Levels including English Language and or Literature and Mathematics
(d) At least 3 years post qualification experience as a public relations practitioner.
(e) Excellent public relations skills is a must.
(f) Computer proficiency is a must.
(g) Working experience in a Local Authority environment is an added advantage
(h) Exceptional communication abilities, including writing, speaking and active listening
(I) Professional understanding of crisis management
(j) Great project management skills including time management, goal-setting, multitasking and prioritization
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and implements public relations plans and programmes
- Develops and maintains the corporate image of the organization
- Prepares and develops of material for Masvingo City Council`s participation at corporate events
- Initiates the production of Corporate Publications and promotional materials
- Develops press, radio, and TV materials and programmes
- Conducts media coverage for all Council activities and programmes
- Conduct quarterly stakeholder satisfaction surveys
- Ascertains that all promotional and marketing materials meet the organization’s brand identity strategy
- Manages the Council Civic Functions, Publicity Events and Corporate Social Responsibility Programmes.
- Coordinates quality control of organisation-wide documentation
- Administers media coverage of all Council activities and programmes
- Maintains good international, governmental and citizen relationships
- Attends to customer complaints, queries and requests
- Prepares speeches
- Manages social media and website content
- Crafts and manages the section`s budget
- Supervises subordinates
- Performs any other duty within the scope of this job as assigned by superiors from time -to -time.
