PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED BUDGET -2024
Today Council held a public hearing with residents associations, business community and members of the media on the proposed 2024 budget.
Part of the 2023 achievements include:
. Construction and commissioning of Cambria Landfill.
. Construction of Rujeko Secondary School classroom blocks
. Purchase of furniture and resource materials for Rujeko Secondary School.
. Construction of markets in and around town.
. Purchase of construction vehicles (tippers).
. Smart water metering.
However, it should be noted that debtors amounted to ZWL $12, 327, 252, 924.00 an increase of about 335,7% from.ZWL$2, 829, 425,990.25 as of 1 January 2023.
2024 Budget Focus areas
a) Governance and Administration Programme
. Promotion of good corporate governance throughout the year.
b) Water Sanitation and Hygiene
. Redesigning of water augmentation phase 2 project.
. Procurement of a new pump for the water treatment plant.
. Procurement of a new chemical dosing equipment.
. Rehabilitation of sewer problem areas which include; Zimre, Davis Mugabe and Kubatana, Rujeko Roma sewer, Flametree, Muchemi and Save main line.
. Reduction of non revenue water through zonal meters, and household meter replacement.
. Mucheke sewer trunk line.
. Procurement of a refuse compactor.
. Procurement of landfill management equipment.
c) Social Services
. Expansion of Mucheke martenity ward.
. Construction of an Infectious diseases hospital.
Housing
. Servicesing of Rujeko D
Social Amneties
. Repair and upgrading of Mucheke stadium.
. Repair of community hall.
. Establishment of new recreational parks.
. Upgrading of markets.
d) Roads Programme
. Roads resealing.
. Tarpatching.
. Graveling.
. Drainage resulting.
e) Public Safety and Security Services
. Rehabilitation of public lighting infrastructure.
. Purchasing of fire rescue services.
