City Health intensifies COVID-19 awareness campaign

As COVID-19 cases continue to escalate world-wide, the City of Masvingo’s Department of City Health has taken the necessary steps to mitigate and interrupt the transmission of COVID-19.

In a noteworthy development, the Department has embarked on public education to raise awareness about COVID-19.

It has intensified awareness campaigns on good hygiene practices and social distancing to prevent the spread of the virus using public address system.

Health workers are playing a crucial role in supporting the COVID-19 preparedness and response activities to ensure the rapid identification of cases to stop transmission and the spread of the virus in order to save lives.

In response to the conformation of the COVID-19 cases, the Department is conducting full outbreak investigation including tracing of contacts, intensifying surveillance, expanding case management capacity as well as mapping and training health personnel.

To date, the City of Masvingo has not yet recorded any case of COVID-19.
