Renovations are underway at Tanaiwa Hostels in Mucheke, where 10 hostels are being extended and converted into apartments with indoor toilets.
The City of Masvingo, in partnership with Dialogue on Shelter, is providing materials for the renovations. The initiative forms part of a broader programme targeting 56 hostels, aimed at improving living conditions for vulnerable members of the community.
Previously, residents relied on communal toilets. Upon completion, each renovated hostel will have its own indoor toilet and additional living space, enhancing privacy, dignity and comfort.
The initiative underscores City of Masvingo’s commitment to promoting decent, safe and dignified housing for all residents as it works towards building a better, more inclusive city in line with Vision 2030.
