Frequently Asked Questions

We try to answer some of the frequently asked questions. Please note that the questions and responses are by no means exhaustive. If your question has not been answered you can email us on pr@masvingocity.org.zw or call us on +263 392 262 431-4, WhatsApp 0712 868 823
Q. Are there any plans underway in provision of houses?
A. There are plans in our strategic Plan and also our draft Master Plan to increase housing provision in line with NDS1.
Q. Are you selling residential and commercial stands at the moment?
A. We currently do not have any serviced residential stands for sale at the moment. Once the stands are available you will be notified. For the mean time, it is necessary to be on the housing waiting list. For commercial stands you can visit our website, www.masvingocity.org.zw and find procedure on how to apply.
Q. What is the procedure to acquire a stand in Masvingo?
A. To acquire a stand, you have to register on the Council waiting list at US$7 and this is renewable every year until you are offered a stand. Failure to renew, will mean forfeiting your chance to acquire a stand, which in turn will be offered to other prospective buyers.
Q. What is the cost of residential stands?
A. The cost of the stand depends on the costs of servicing the land and it varies per project.
Q. What is the state of service delivery in Masvingo?
A. We are supplying clean water everyday although our capacity does not allow us to supply for 24hours of the day.
-Refuse is being collected as scheduled and where backlogs are encountered, they are cleared during weekends.
– Sewer blockages are being attended within 24 hours in most areas.
Roads are being maintained in most areas although a lot still needs to be done because of the maintenance backlogs.
Q. Are there any plans for a bus terminus to cater for SA bound buses?
A. There are plans underway for a long-distance bus stop closer to Exor, the planning is now at an advanced of approvals and we will be calling for partnership for construction and operation of the facility.
Q. What are City Council’s plans to de-congest the bridge along the Beit-Bridge Road?
A. The Chimusana High Level Bridge had been designed. This will de-congest the existing Mucheke bridge.
Q. How far are we in regularization of Victoria Ranch suburb?
A. The developers have the responsibility to ensure that the basic infrastructure (water reticulation, sewer reticulation and roads and storm-water drainage) is put in place while Councils ensure that houses constructed meet the required standards. However, the obligation to push developers to comply does not solely rest with Masvingo City Council.
Q. What methods are you using to improve revenue collection?
A. We usually disconnect water supply to defaulting properties and sometimes hand them over to debt collectors for recovery of amounts owed but as last resort. We are also in the process of setting up a strategic Business Unit (SBU) to run income generating projects.
Q. How best can we pay bills without congesting revenue halls?
A. Payments can be made online via the paynow function on our website; www.masvingocity.org.zw, Ecocash and One money platforms. Ecocash Biller Code: 87870; Ecocash Merchant Code: 28408, One wallet payment Biller Code: 18041, (Banking details are as follows: ZB Bank Account number: 4407094505200 or simply download our android mobile application; https://bit.ly/cityofmasvingo.
