City of Masvingo makes emergency roads rehabilitation inroads
The road rehabilitation exercise in Masvingo under the Government funded Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme 2 (ERRP2) in accordance with Statutory Instrument 47 of 2021 (Declaration of State Disaster; Road Infrastructure Netwoark) launched by President E D Munangagwa, has paced with notable progress.
City of Masvingo was allocated and received $77 million from the Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA) towards the road rehabilitation exercise and to date 69 roads across the city have been completed.
To date, Council has made significant inroads on road rehabilitation exercise following heavy rains during the 2020-2021 rain season which left a trail of destruction.
The exercise saw re-sealing of 12km and the roads include; 4.1 Infantry – 1.3km, Chiedza – 800m, Zimuto – 700m, Mambo – 200m, Muzora – 0.4m, Yomukono – 800m, Gwereveshe – 15m, Ingwe Drive – 2.23 Km, Mboroma – 1Km, Chesvingo Drive – 1 Km, Industria- 2.9 Km.
There was also re-graveling of 9.5 Km and the other roads which were attended to include; Zviitirei, E Gudza, Manhede, P Chatikobo, S Kanyemba, E Mukono, Tendai Kubatana, L Mukaro, Davies Mugabe.
Council also attended to potholes and there was pothole patching of 84Km, a total of 62 roads.
According to the budget and timelines which were set for this year, 69 roads across the city were to be rehabilitated (re-sealing and re-graveling) and the targets were met.
