

As part of the city’s annual Cheerfund initiative, His Worship, the Mayor, Cllr Aleck Tabe distributed essential items to less privileged members of the community on Thursday the 19th of December 2024.
The event, held in the Civic Centre Town Hall, saw the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Daniel Mberikunashe handing over food hampers, clothing, and toiletries to deserving homes, individuals and families on behalf of the Mayor.
“The Cheerfund initiative is a testament to our city’s commitment to caring for its most vulnerable citizens,” said Deputy Mayor, Cllr Daniel Mberikunashe. “I am grateful to our donors and partners for their generosity and support”, he said.
The Cheerfund program is an annual city-wide initiative that aims to provide essential items to those in need, bringing joy and hope to the less privileged during the holiday season.
Recipients of this year’s Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund includes, National Council for the Disabled, Zimbabwe parents of handicapped children, Zimbabwe Association of the Visually Handicapped, M. MUGO Blind PRY (CAPOTA), Jairos Jiri Association, Ngomahuru Psychiatric Hospital, Ratidzo ZIMCARE Trust, M. MUGO (CAPOTA)High School, Henry Murray School, CAPOTA workshop, Masvingo Provincial Hospital, Alpha Cottage, Disability Amalgamation Community Trust, Mucheke Old People’s Home, Alfred Walter Hospital, Pioner Cottage, Masvingo wheel chair tennis club, Zimbabwe Albino Association, Mazorodze maternity ward and Foster parents.
