Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund, a beacon of hope for the City’s vulnerable groups
As the festive season nears, the Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund once again stepped in to ensure the under privileged members of the society also merry with others and enjoy the joy of the holidays.
The City of Masvingo officially launched the 2024 Mayor’s Christmas Cheer fund on the 6th of December with a fundraising golf tournament, fundraising dinner and marathon on the 7th of December aiming to fundraise donations for the underprivileged.
This initiative targets various group including Ngomahuru hospital, Henry Murray School for the deaf, Copota school for the blind, Alfred Walter hostel, Ratidzo Zimcare Trust, Alpha Cottages, Mucheke Old people’s home, ZACH, NDPZ, National Council for Disabled Persons, Zimbabwe Parents of Handicapped Children, Zimbabwe Association of the visually handicapped, M. Hugo Primary, Jairos Jiri Association, Ngomahuru Psychiatric Hospital, M. Hugo (Copota) High School, Henry Murray School, Copota Workshops, Masvingo Provincial Hospital, Alpha Cottages, Disability Amalgamation Community Trust, Pioneer Cottage, Masvingo wheelchair tennis club, Mucheke Cloakroom (squatters), 2 pupils from Vurombo Primary School and Mucheke High School as well as the people who have no fixed place the squatters at Mucheke Bus Terminus.
The initiatives managed to raise funds and household donations from the corporate world and society at large.
